Credentials and Bio

Lisa  Creef received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Old Dominion University in 1983. She received her Masters in Social Work from Norfolk State University in 1985.  In 1989 she received her LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and practiced in private practice in Chesapeake Virginia until 2008.  In 2008 she moved her practice to Elizabeth City and was licensed as an LCAS (Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist) in addition to her LCSW.   She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and is a DWI/DUI provider for the state of North Carolina.
Ms. Creef  has extensive experience working with a variety of problem areas with varied populations.  She worked as a substance abuse counselor after graduating from Norfolk State and worked both in-patient and out-patient settings.  Around 1990 she moved her interests to mental health issues and took a job with a family service agency in Virginia.  This agency provided excellent supervision and she learned a great deal about treating issues such as depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder and post traumatic stress. Family, marital and individual therapy modalities were used. While building her own practice, she worked part time in a psychiatric inpatient setting which helped her to understand the dynamics of the more severe mental health issues and also of the role of medication in treating specific issues.   In the mid 90s she focused on her own psychotherapy practice treating both addiction and mental health issues.
